About our management team
Advanced Buildings is made up of a team of highly dedicated and skilled professionals. Our goal is to deliver exceptional quality services to our clients to enable property owners to regain their homes or business premises as quickly as possible. Our management team consists of the following:
Stephen Barlow
Stephen Barlow is the Managing Director and Licensee of Advanced Buildings which was incorporated in 1998.
He is responsible for the direction, marketing and overall operation of the company.
With more than 35 years building industry experience, Stephen has extensive trade knowledge and a thorough understanding of the insurance industry and its requirements regarding building reinstatement, restoration and cleaning services. Stephen has a hands-on approach and is proud of the superior quality of Advanced Buildings’ workmanship and customer service.
“It is wonderful to know that we have played an important part in giving a family their home back, or to see a business back in action with as little disruption to their operations as possible,” he says.

Joseph Rinaldi
Joseph is Advanced Buildings’ Construction Manager and has been with the company for more than 10 years.
He has 20 years of experience in the construction industry and has specialised in insurance-related construction during this time. Joseph therefore has substantial knowledge of the requirements of the insurance industry, and is able to manage our projects in a highly streamlined and effective manner.
Joseph is responsible for estimating and overseeing the company’s larger projects. He heads a team of highly capable supervisors and works closely with them to monitor and control the day to day management of these jobs.
Joseph is a Licensed Builder with a Diploma of Applied Science (Building).

Peter Thomas
Peter is Advanced Buildings Queensland Manager and has been involved in the insurance claims industry for 21 years. Fifteen of these years were with one of Australia's largest Loss Adjusting firms, as a Divisional Manager and Executive Loss Adjuster. In this role Peter provided operational and business management functions as well as technical claims advice across a wide variety of losses as a loss adjuster and claims preparer.
During his career Peter has been involved in managing large and complex losses of significant quantum involving major structural property damage and business interruption. He has been personally involved in small and medium sized business. He has a broad knowledge of the commercial practices and the problems associated with re-establishing a business that has suffered a significant loss.
"I enjoy the challenge of assisting our clients to manage the issues arising from a loss and to identify an efficient critical path towards regaining control, normalcy and productivity", he says
Remo Adoncello
In August 2011 Remo joined Advanced Buildings’ senior management team as their Business Development Manager.
Remo is a creative senior management professional with over 20 years experience in a variety of industries including Construction, Telecommunications and the I.T. industry. He is experienced in leading teams and organisations in improving operational performance and cost, driving transitional change and establishing and managing client and alliance relationships.
He has experience dealing with major suppliers as well as managing and driving the delivery of contracted services.
“I was excited to have been invited to work with such a professional group of people. There is a strong focus on attention to detail at Advanced Buildings which is a key to their ongoing success. I look forward to the opportunities ahead and working with the team in continuing the growth of the business“, he says.
Scott Eldridge
Scott is a Supervisor with Advanced Buildings and controls numerous claims, ably supported by our team of foremen and general tradesmen.
Scott’s background is in carpentry and joinery, and he was previously self-employed in a cabinet making business prior to joining Advanced Buildings in 2002. Scott has extensive knowledge of the building industry and excellent people skills.
“It is really important that we run all of our jobs with accurate and up to date record keeping,” he says. “At Advanced Buildings, we’re highly organised and conduct all our jobs with efficiency and an eye for detail. In this way, we are able to deliver an exceptional quality of work on all of our sites.”

Allan Huriwai
Allan is Advanced Buildings’ Manager of Restoration and Cleaning. He has been involved in the restoration/insurance industry for 12 years and has worked on alleviating the damage to buildings caused by many significant disasters around Australia. This has included hail storms, bush fires, other storms and major fires in commercial settings. Allan project managed the reinstatement of the Myer store in Hobart which suffered the most serious fire in Hobart’s history.
Allan’s role includes preparation of reports, scope of works, budget estimates, OH&S requirements, invoicing, and he provides assistance with administrative duties, setting up key accounts, sales, marketing, looking after staff, equipment, our van fleet and more.
Allan has completed courses in Project Management and with the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) such as but not limited to Odour Control, Water Damage, Mould Inspector Domestic and Mould Remediation.
“Building effective customer and client relationships is key to our success. I am pleased to have been able to forge excellent working relationships with some of Australia’s leading loss adjusters and insurance companies, as well as with the customers we work with on a day to day basis,” he says.

Peter Kibby
Peter joined Advanced Buildings in January 2011 as their Senior Estimator. He says "Advanced Buildings is a dynamic company who has built a strong reputation and is highly regarded in the Insurance Restoration sector. I was very excited when asked to join the team."
Peter has been involved in the construction industry for 23 years, primarily in the Insurance Restoration sector, but has also estimated and managed projects under the Sydney Aircraft Noise Insulation Program as well as the RTA Noise Attenuation Scheme.
During his time in the industry, Peter has seen much change and understands that a building company also needs to change and adapt in order to remain competitive.
Peter has an Associate Diploma in Health and Building Surveying and a Diploma in Applied Science (Building).

Leanne Photi
Leanne is Advanced Buildings’ Accounts Manager and she has been with our company for more than 12 years. Leanne works closely with our Company’s Accountancy firm and is also responsible for correlating and reconciling all accounting and invoicing documentation.
She is highly organised and capable in fulfilling these important functions and our relationships with the insurance companies and their clients are smoother and more effective as a result.
“At Advanced Buildings, we’re accustomed to managing highly complex projects and so the quality of our record and account keeping is crucial,” she says. “The systems we have in place are highly effective in managing all of our processes, meaning we have clear and accurate information at all times which is valuable for the insurer.”
