Our history

Since it began, Advanced Buildings has had as its central goal a desire to deliver a high quality building reinstatement solution for insurance company customers whose premises have been damaged by an insurable event.

Dealing with and fixing the consequence of fire, storm or water damage to a building is a highly specialised skill. With more than a decade of experience in doing just that, Advanced Buildings is well qualified to manage the most complex of circumstances.

Over the years, we’ve assembled a team of professionals who are fast to respond and adept at creating highly effective building reinstatement, restoration and cleaning solutions.

Established by Stephen Barlow in 1998, Advanced Buildings has assisted in a broad range of insurance works and has been instrumental in helping to reinstate buildings damaged by some of our worst storms, fires or floods. Our team has been deployed to assist after substantial hail storms in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in 1999 and Sydney’s western Suburbs in 2007, major flooding in Newcastle in 2006, storms in Canberra in 2007 and many other calamitous events.

Each project will have its own specifications, and we tailor our response accordingly. Examples of work we’ve undertaken include:

  • Reconstruction of plant room and units after gas explosion to a 30 storey exclusive apartment block.
  • Reconstruction of commercial factories after fire.
  • Reconstruction of a major shopping centre after fire.
  • Reconstruction of top floor roof and units of medium size apartment block of after fire.
  • Taking care of and retaining historical features whilst reinstating a heritage-listed building
  • Removing chemical waste arising from a factory fire
  • Managing the demolition of a business gutted by fire that adjoined a major electric substation
  • The rebuilding of hundreds of family homes that had been severely damaged by storm or fire
